Our Founders & Directors

Joshua Wagler
Edible Landscape Designer
Creative Director & Director of Marketing
Director of Tours & Education
Joshua is passionate about bringing the wisdom of Nature into human development. He has travelled the world studying Globalization and Sustainability of Cities, and graduated with an Urban Studies Degree from the University of Calgary in 2010.
Upon returning to Canada, he began seeking practical solutions to the challenges he witnessed in the mega-cities of Pacific Asia. This quest lead him on a solo pilgrimage into the Rocky Mountains, and eventually back into the city, where he began studying permaculture design, food forestry, and urban placemaking.
Here he learned and worked alongside experts in these fields, including Mark Lakeman, Richard Walker, Javan Bernakevitch, and Brandon Bauer. Upon completing a business development course with Ethos Career Management Group, he spearheaded the corporate launch of Edible Landscapes Design Ltd with Nick Poeta and Marc DeMontigny. Since then he has co-created numerous edible forest gardens, workshops, and educational events.
He thrives in teaching, sharing the magic of food forestry, artistic design, and bridging the needs of diverse interest groups. Along with sitting on the board of the business as President & VP Marketing, Joshua acts as one the firm's main Edible Landscape Designers and Consultants.
Nicholas Poeta
Edible Landscape Designer
Director of Finance and Project Management
Director of Irrigation & Water Harvesting
Nick's design portfolio spans beyond the residential sector, and includes work with a number of schools in the CRD, community centres, businesses and other organizations.
Given this diverse history, Nick pays careful attention to the unique considerations of each site and all it's stakeholders needs and visions. As an edible landscape designer, Nick has navigated through the conceptual roadblocks of good landscape design with many local projects. This experience has grounded him in the realities of the tasks and details required along each step of the way, when working with all kinds of clients.
With over 7 years of irrigation and water management experience, Nick puts to use his project management time to make sure all of our edible systems are installed and nourished in the most thoughtful, effective, efficient, and ecologically sound way. These skills, in combination with his design expertise and digital mapping abilities, make him an invaluable part of the Edible Landscapes Design team.
Nick is also a Development Manager, Landscape Designer and Grower-Educator with the Growing Young Farmers Society. Nick is also a founding member of Edible Landscapes Design, currently sits on the board, is a major part of business operations and is a primary Edible Landscape Designer for the firm.

Marc Demontigny
Logistics Director
Earthworks Specialist
Natural Builder
Marc is another multi talented member of the team. He is a proficient site foreman, heavy equipment operator, and earth works specialist. He excels in situations with site specific design constraints and technically challenging terrain.
He is very effective managing work crews and keeping within strict budget and schedule constraints. His diverse skillset has been honed to implement the client’s vision in ways that minimize costs, and seek conservation of energy and time.
In addition to his extensive earthworks experience, Marc is also a skilled natural builder and artistic carpenter/designer. If there is a way to build it, Marc will find a way! His design portfolio includes multi-functional duck and rabbit homes, art installations and even main-stages for music festivals, as well as our own "Decagon Tiny Home". His buildings are made primarily out of recycled building materials, always striving to meet the strictest ecological standards.
Marc thrives in creating solutions to complex design challenges, and has often been quoted saying "Anything is possible, it's all just logistics". Marc brings serious experience managing large-scale projects, has installed hundreds of rock walls, and is always pushing the limits of what is possible in design and on the ground.
