Testimonials

“We purchased an acre of land one year ago and quickly saw its potential to become a thriving food forest. Taking on this ourselves was a daunting task though, as we faced many challenges with drainage, varied terrain, and established trees/plants to name a few. We found Edible Landscapes, who were willing to work with us despite the distance (Qualicum Beach).

Josh and his team came up to assess our property, and we could immediately tell they were a welcome presence on our land. They were tremendous at answering all of our questions, quieting our concerns, and making the whole process far less daunting. Josh made multiple trips to see the land in all seasons. They have created an amazing plan for us to slowly start the transition in stages (we will be doing the labour ourselves).

We were particularly impressed with the in-depth look at our family, to assure the whole family’s needs are being met, and all of our favourite edibles are being integrated. Josh’s approach is very logical, methodical and low-impact, in that he finds solutions cohesive to the established plants and existing terrain. We highly recommend this business 😊👍🏻 The value of their insight is immeasurable!”

“Josh is so much more than a landscaper/designer. A very skilled listener & communicator: Josh hears the big ideas and small ideas in what you share, identifies what you value, and brings even the tiniest details into existence.

Josh is obviously very mindful about who he adds as team members. They seem to be so much more than co-workers - each with their own unique stories and skills valued and honoured amongst the team.

It is absolute magic watching the team work. I have never heard a team work so supportively & positively together.”

“I have to say my husband was skeptical of the whole idea, figuring we could just do the research ourselves. Given the little I had read that seemed overwhelming to me. And for me this was the first time in a long time that I’ve had a professional really listen to what I was asking for as opposed to offering me their cookie cutter solution. And having been involved in strata for so long, I’ve dealt with a lot of “professionals/experts”.

We are both thoroughly impressed, have already learned so much, and are so excited about the leg up this is going to give us in realizing one of our dreams, and having a great practice run for doing this on a larger scale in our retirement. (What would you do with 160 acres?) Whoohoo!”

Thank you for an inspiring journey through the world of food gardening! You’ve opened up a wonderful range of possibilities.
— Jean Lawrence, President of Victoria Horticultural Society

“The design you showed me is what I got in the end. There was no surprises. The drawings you showed me of the garden is what I got. We talked about it, you showed me the picture, and that’s exactly what’s there. I got exactly what I wanted and expected.

Communication has been open. You came when you said you would. You did what you said you would. Anytime I wanted to change something, you were open to it… You don’t take things personally, and you are there for the customer, not just your own gratification. I would recommend your services, because I got what I wanted.”

“I had a great day in the nursery today for many reasons.  But there is one in particular that stood out. A customer arrived, from Surrey, who had a company design her landscape for a food forest.  They chose a company out of Victoria, and chose two beautiful and kind people who have very social conscience. This person explained how they interviewed them, and how they appreciated their excitement over their own work. Nick Poeta and Josh Wagler... You two have not only done an amazing design, you have just exemplified the quality of people that live on the island. #rolemodels ”

“It has been amazing working with you! I had an idea to have a garden, and I wanted to do it for a while... It’s been great getting to know the possibilities and have the knowledge to get started.

I had an idea, but I didn’t know how to carry it out. We use almost all fresh herbs now, and I never have to waste the cilantro because I've bought to much of it. I just pick what I need. We have most of our greens, and when I'm making stirfries, it’s super exciting, every single time! … We just go and see what's ready. That's really exciting, knowing that whenever you're cooking you can just go out and harvest. There's the food part, but also I find it super calming to be out there, working in the garden, and to just be a part of it, there's a benefit for sure.

I would absolutely recommend your services and I already have. A lot of people like the idea, but they are not sure where to start. You just have to jump in and start small, you can just start with a few small containers. It's such a great initiative... It's great to grow things you can actually eat. I would absolutely recommend your business, not just for the food, but for the overall experience.”

“There’s a gentle spirit about all of you that is really nice. Watching the way that you laid out the plants, and how they fit together, was pretty neat to see. The care that you took with every plant, and with every stage of it. You very much kept us informed about exactly what was coming, even on the cost side, which could have been the biggest barrier. You always let us know what it was going to be, and when you were going to be coming. That part was really great, as well as the followup and being able to ask questions and your help to do the things. Just being able to go out there and to have it done is amazing. I probably wouldn’t have done it otherwise.”

“If you're a novice gardener like me, or you're looking for ways to increase your yields, may I recommend the services of Nick Poeta and Joshua Wagler. With a huge amount of permaculture expertise between them, these two gentlemen were incredibly helpful not just in telling me what and where to plant, but encouraging me to participate in the planning process by teaching and sharing their knowledge. I feel confident and empowered that I easily put their suggestions to good use and have my best gardening season yet.”

“When I looked out, I always felt kind of depressed looking at the grass. My house looked so great on the outside, but the grass didn’t match it. Then of course I had the flooding, two times my basement was flooded, and the city didn’t do anything to help me. I wanted to do something about the grass, and I also wanted to do something about the rain problem flooding my basement. The idea of having plants that I can eat as a bonus, or attract insects like bees was perfect.

I’m very relaxed now if I see a lot of rain, I don’t worry my basement is gonna flood. Before I would ask if I needed to build an ark! I would always have to check it if was flooding, I was afraid to leave the house. I look forward as it matures, it’s going to be fun. When I’m here this spring and see more of the flowers, and seeing the lemon tree growing... I’m just so proud of my property and that I have something I can eat. Pride of ownership. Everyone who walks by says, ‘Oh wow! Nice! You have the best house on the block.’ It kind of went from one of the worst houses, to one of the best.”
