Forest Garden Farm
This project began as a large, open property with enormous potential and little structure. The goal was to transform it into a resilient, low-input landscape that could provide food, beauty, and a sense of long-term ease for a growing family and community.
Working closely with the land and the homeowners, we designed a large-scale edible forest garden supported by extensive swales, water management systems, and layered perennial plantings. What was once a barren slope has become a thriving food forest—productive, diverse, and more abundant than originally imagined.
The landscape now integrates orchards, berries, herbs, and perennial crops with a working farm that includes ducks, chickens, pigs, and sheep. Gathering spaces are woven throughout, including stonework terraces, a banquet area, pizza oven, outdoor shower, and wood-fired hot tub—places to rest, celebrate, and come together.
This was a deeply collaborative project. We supported design development, coordinated consultants, hosted hands-on workshops and volunteer builds, and worked alongside clients who took an active role in shaping the land themselves. Over time, the garden has matured into a living system with a life of its own—productive, welcoming, and rooted in care.
Today, the site hosts tours, shared meals, and ongoing learning. It remains one of the most generous and meaningful landscapes we’ve had the privilege to help bring into being.
