Waterfall Foodscape

This landscape was shaped in close conversation with a steep, demanding site—one that was purchased before its full challenges were known, leaving the yard largely unusable at first. Rather than resisting the slope, the design works with water, stone, and gravity to form a naturalistic waterfall woven through a low-maintenance edible landscape.

At this early stage, the structure of the garden is still visible. Terraces, steps, and stonework hold the hillside and create access where none existed before, transforming a difficult slope into a place that can be safely and comfortably used every day. As plants establish and root systems deepen, the landscape will continue to soften and stabilize. Native plants, herbs, flowers, and resilient edibles will fill in over time, bringing colour, life, and seasonal abundance.

What was once avoided is now inhabited. Paths invite movement, gathering spaces encourage pause, and the sound of water anchors the experience. Designed to mature rather than impress all at once, this garden is a living framework—one that will grow more settled, productive, and beautiful with each passing year.
