Shade-Tolerant Edible Edging

We installed this driftwood and stone edging to help retain the soil and prevent erosion on this backyard edible landscape. We've been working on this site for just over a year, taking care of monthly maintenance and slowly transforming this space into an edible ecosystem. Each month, we look for opportunities to reduce maintenance requirements, and divert the saved time to growing tasty treats and extraordinary edibles that require little care. Instead of creating a master plan and subsequent major renovation, the transformation is broken into bite sized projects that are integrated into monthly maintenance visits. As a designer, it's a great way to get to know the site slowly over time, and throught the seasons. For our clients, it's a great way to phase installation costs and keep the budget manageable.
