Government House Food Forest

Here we designed and installed several kinds of growing conditions to act as the experimental grounds for the children of the Growing Young Farmers Society School Program. Hugelkultur beds, lasagna gardening, woodchip mulch, and "natural farming" inspired cover crops provide opportunities for observation, education, and soil building. Fruits and vegetables growing all year round, and feeding children long into the future. We also chose as many species that would fruit while the students were in school as possible. Plant highlights include a multi-graft Plum, Hazelnuts, Russian Olive, Desert King Figs, Chilean Guava, Goji Berries, Blueberries (early and late season), Sea Buckthorn and Honey Berries.
