Gorge On Your Garden! Intro to Foodscaping (Evening Talk)

The local food movement is coming to a yard near you! Edible landscaping, also known as “foodscaping”, is a growing trend, where ornamental lawns and landscapes are being transformed into edible gardens.

This growing interest has many roots: rising food prices, health and wellness, environmental awareness, demand for high-quality ingredients, and desire for strong local economies are just a few.

Join us for this evening talk, and learn why people are turning their landscapes into foodscapes, and explore some of the edible opportunities that exist in your own yard!

People spend countless hours and dollars mowing and maintaining their lawns, with very little return on their investment. What if your landscape was an asset? Foodscaping offers an opportunity to replace ornamental plants (trees, shrubs, grass, etc) with plants that provide a yield beyond just beauty, including food, medicine, habitat, as well as diverse sources of income if desired.

In this evening talk, we will explore a variety of extraordinary edibles and backyard superfoods able to be grown locally, and how they can benefit you and your landscape, followed by a short Q&A.
